Warsaw Marathon Website

The Foundation is the organizer of the largest running event in Poland. The design of a modern and responsive website for the Warsaw Marathon Foundation was entrusted to Sygnisoft. We have had the pleasure of being the Foundation’s technology partner for nearly 10 years.

Project objectives and goals

The client wanted to create a modern website that would become the central source of all information about the annual Warsaw Marathon. The site was to include content for participants (such as regulations and guidelines), reports and results from previous editions, as well as materials dedicated to runners and supporters. The main goal was to ensure a user-friendly content layout, simple navigation, attractive UI/UX design, and high performance. The result of this work is the project: https://nnmaratonwarszawski.com/pl/

Project stages

# 1
Analysis and workshops with the client

We began by analyzing the needs, content structure, and user behavior. We conducted workshops and interviews with representatives of the Foundation, based on which we proposed a new content and navigation structure. We prepared two UX wireframe concepts and then developed the selected version into a complete design for both desktop and mobile.

# 2
Website architecture and development

We designed the architecture within a WordPress Multisite environment, taking into account security, data migration, and high performance. The team of developers, testers, and designers implemented the website using Gutenberg, CI/CD (GitLab), Agile methodology, and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

# 3
Migration and testing

We migrated the content of articles and multimedia from the previous website, preserving the URL structure for SEO. Manual functional and compatibility tests were carried out on the most popular browsers and mobile devices.

# 4
Implementation and evaluation

After completing the tests, we launched the new website on September 2, 2025. During the Warsaw Marathon, we conducted user satisfaction surveys, analyzing feedback on navigation, information accessibility, and overall experience.

Benefits for the client:

Based on the completed project for the new Warsaw Marathon website, the client gained a range of tangible benefits that improve both user experience and the internal workflow of the team. Key advantages include:

  • Modern Website: The site has become a central, dynamic source of information about the marathon—from participant regulations to reports from previous editions—replacing the outdated platform. This enhances brand prestige and facilitates communication with runners, spectators, partners, and sponsors.
  • Organized Content: Information has been structured and optimized for navigation, allowing users to find what they need more quickly. This reduces the number of inquiries to the customer service office, saving time and team resources.
  • Attractive Design: A modern UX/UI interface, designed in Figma, ensures visual appeal and intuitiveness, encouraging longer visits to the site and creating positive associations with the event.
  • Simplified Content Editing with Gutenberg: The WordPress admin panel with the Gutenberg editor allows editors to quickly and easily add articles, multimedia, or updates, reducing publication time by up to several dozen percent.
  • Access to Content Templates: Staff gained ready-made templates and patterns, standardizing content quality, minimizing errors, and speeding up the creation process.
  • Positive User Experience: Simplified navigation, fast loading times, and mobile responsiveness generate higher satisfaction. Post-launch surveys (37 interviews) confirmed easier information retrieval, leading to a 30–50% increase in time spent on the site and smoother race registrations.
  • Improved Performance and Scalability: The website is optimized for peak traffic (e.g., during the marathon), with better performance than the previous version, full mobile responsiveness (previously lacking), and a WordPress Multisite architecture that ensures security and supports a growing number of users.
  • WCAG Compliance: Full accessibility for people with disabilities not only meets legal standards but also broadens the site’s reach, engages a wider audience, and enhances the inclusive image of the event.

Project Summary:

The collaboration with the client on the new Warsaw Marathon website was a success. The project was delivered on schedule, providing a modern and functional web application built on a WordPress Multisite platform with the Gutenberg editor. The website has become the central source of information about the annual event: from participant regulations and guidelines, through reports and results from previous editions, to materials dedicated to runners and spectators. Using Agile methodology, ongoing consultations, and tools such as Figma, JIRA, and Confluence, we tailored solutions to the needs of both the client and users, ensuring simple navigation, attractive UX/UI design, and high performance on both mobile and desktop devices.

Collaboration Outcomes:

The results are measurable and long-lasting. The site not only informs but also engages the community—satisfaction surveys (37 interviews during the marathon weekend) confirmed easier content discovery, leading to increased time spent on the site and simplified race registration processes. Editors benefit from an intuitive admin panel with content templates, reducing publication time by several dozen percent and minimizing errors. Additional advantages include SEO optimization (better Google rankings), WCAG 2.1 compliance (full accessibility), and fewer inquiries to customer service thanks to better-organized content.

We continue our partnership with the client for website maintenance and development, as well as preparing sites for other events. New websites will be launched soon, highlighting our passion for combining technology with the dynamics of sports. This collaboration not only meets expectations but also inspires further innovation.
